Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.”
― J. M. Barrie

One of my earliest memories is my mother reading Peter Pan to me. I would snuggle close under the covers and listen to the soothing sound of my mother’s voice as the words danced across the pages painting the perfect picture of Neverland and The lost Boys.

The main character, Peter Pan displays a fascinating ability to believe so fully in whatever he imagines that for him, at least, it appears to become real. He lives a life full of passion, adventure, and imagination.

Throughout high school, I challenged the idea of attending a form of post-secondary education. I was unsure of what exactly awaited for me after I graduated but I knew that my life goals were too big to let fear stand in the way and decided that a small private university four hours away from my hometown was where my dreams would flourish.

During my freshman year of college, I quickly immersed myself by joining an apprenticeship for my campus ministry working as a lead point person on the administrative team. Later in the year, I joined my University’s very own chapter for International Justice Mission as Treasure. By diving headfirst into these two organizations I quickly discovered my passion for the art of communication and building teams.

“Would you like an adventure now, or would like to have your tea first?”
― J. M. Barrie

The unknown of an adventure can be exciting and thrill-seeking however, it can also be daunting and require a great amount of risk, two years ago I left college. It took some time but I landed a job as a Customer Services Representative for a small financial institution where I quickly learned the ropes. Within a short amount of time, I was promoted to Customer Services Representative and was asked to train new hires while leading team operations.

Breaking the mold requires us to open our eyes and see the full potential. It challenges us to break away from traditional ways of thinking and take a leap of faith into the unknown.

The greatest adventures are the ones filled with faith, trust, and pixie dust.
